Position Overview
This role is based at The Shepherd Hotel in Clemson, SC. The valet associate supports a smooth guest arrival and departure experience by parking vehicles, handling luggage assistance, and serving in a guest-facing concierge capacity.
Core Duties
- Park guest vehicles safely in the hotel valet area, including vehicles of varying sizes.
- Protect guest belongings and property, with attention to vehicles and luggage.
- Help guests move luggage between the hotel entrance and guest rooms.
- Provide front-line concierge support such as restaurant suggestions, local area guidance, and transportation assistance.

Licensing and Driving Requirements
- Applicants must complete a certification quiz/test for the role, which may include a ride-along or ride-behind assessment.
- Periodic ride-along or ride-behind evaluations are required.
- A valid, current driver’s license is mandatory, along with an acceptable driving record.
- If required by law, additional driver endorsements must be maintained.
Additional Driver Standards
- For vehicles covered by federal or state Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, the driver must be at least 19 years old and have 3 years of licensed driving experience.
- The candidate must be able to speak and read English sufficiently to deal with the public, understand traffic signals, answer official questions, and complete reports and records clearly.
- The person must be able to operate the vehicle safely.
- Good health and physical ability to perform all driving duties are required.
- A valid medical certificate is required.
- The driver may hold only one valid commercial motor vehicle operator’s license.
- A list of motor vehicle violations from the past 12 months, or a signed statement confirming no convictions in that period, must be provided to the employer.
- Any disqualified driver cannot be permitted to operate a commercial motor vehicle for any reason.
- The candidate must be qualified to drive a CMV and must pass a road test or equivalent assessment.
- All applicable state and federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations must be followed.
Education and Experience
No formal education or prior experience is required.
Working Conditions
- Frequent lifting, carrying, or moving of items up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of items up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
- Proper lifting and moving techniques from the certification program must be followed.
- The job regularly involves standing, sitting, walking, reaching, using hands to handle or feel objects, and communicating verbally and by listening.
