About the role

Glencore Australia is hiring a Vulcaniser for Mount Isa Mines in Queensland. This role sits within Queensland Metallurgical Operations, Surface Operations, Site Services Workshop, and reports to the Supervisor Asset Support. The work involves conveyor belt repairs, replacements, and inspections across areas including smelters, concentrators, crushing plants, and underground operations, with safety as a core priority.

The role is based in Mount Isa as a residential position and follows a family-friendly 4/4/4/2 roster.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and report on the condition of conveyor belts and related components.
• Carry out high-quality belt splicing, conveyor drum lagging, and, when required, rubber lining of pipes and chutes.
• Perform repairs, replacements, and inspections on conveyor systems in heavy industrial environments.

Requirements

• Trade qualification as a Belt Splicer or Certificate IV in Polymer Processing.
• Prior experience in heavy industry will be viewed favourably.
• Practical knowledge of conveyor material handling systems and related components.
• Background in belt splicing and troubleshooting conveyor operational problems.
• Experience with rigging, winches, and winders.
• Exposure to solvents, adhesives, and mechanical fasteners is preferred.
• Valid HR truck licence and forklift ticket are advantageous.
• Current manual driver’s licence.
• Adaptable attitude and a strong work ethic.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Good customer service approach, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
