Role Summary
This full-time Accountant position is based on-site in Warragul, Victoria. The role covers everyday finance duties such as managing payables and receivables, performing bank reconciliations, processing payroll, and maintaining the general ledger. You will also help prepare and review invoices, track cash flow, and assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
Key Duties
The accountant will support budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis linked to quarry operations, while also preparing financial reports for management. The role includes ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax obligations, and statutory reporting needs. Maintaining accurate records, handling financial queries, and working closely with operations and administration teams to improve processes are also important parts of the job.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have a strong grasp of financial accounting, ledger management, and the preparation of financial statements. Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash flow monitoring is required. Proficiency with MYOB, along with strong Microsoft Excel and general office software skills, is important. A sound understanding of Australian taxation, payroll, superannuation, and statutory reporting is needed.
Strong analytical ability, careful attention to detail, and accurate data entry and reporting are essential. Good communication and interpersonal skills are needed to interact effectively with operations staff, managers, suppliers, and customers. Candidates should be able to prioritise work, meet deadlines, and operate independently in a busy on-site setting. A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related area is expected, and progress toward or completion of CPA or CA is considered an advantage. Experience in construction, quarrying, manufacturing, or similar industries will be beneficial.
