About the role
BMD Urban is looking for an experienced Civil Estimator to prepare tenders for a broad mix of civil infrastructure projects in the Northern Territory. The role can be based in the Brisbane office, with travel to NT worksites as needed.

- Residential and industrial land subdivision developments
- Road infrastructure for government and local council projects across the Northern Territory
- Department of Defence projects
- Large water and sewer upgrade works
Key responsibilities
- Interpret drawings, specifications and scope documents to produce accurate estimates for civil and structural projects.
- Issue supplier and subcontractor packages, compare responses and negotiate to secure competitive, compliant pricing.
- Work with tender and delivery teams to shape construction methodology, project programs, and risk and opportunity registers.
- Produce detailed tender submissions with strong written content.
- Apply first-principles estimating methods and programming capability.
- Track project costs during both bidding and delivery stages and contribute value engineering ideas.
What you need to bring
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or a related discipline, or equivalent trade qualifications.
- At least 5 years of experience in civil construction, with field experience preferred.
- Strong capability with estimating systems and tools, ideally Expert software and Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of project planning tools, including Microsoft Project.
- Proven ability to build accurate first-principles estimates and submission documents under tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability and written communication.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Willingness to travel to NT sites when required.
