Commis Chef

Overview

Grand Hyatt Doha is looking for a Commis Chef to support the kitchen team with the smooth day-to-day running of the department in line with the brand's standards and operational needs. The role involves helping prepare high-quality dishes, maintaining consistency, upholding hygiene standards, and ensuring food is served on time, while also building culinary experience under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Help prepare, cook, and present menu items according to established recipes and standards.
• Work alongside senior kitchen staff such as the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in routine operations.
• Make sure all food handling and preparation activities follow quality, cleanliness, and safety expectations.
• Keep work areas, tools, and kitchen equipment clean, tidy, and properly arranged.
• Use correct storage practices, labeling methods, and first-in-first-out stock rotation.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and putting away ingredients and kitchen supplies.
• Follow portion guidelines and help reduce unnecessary food waste.
• Develop culinary skills by learning from senior team members.
• Support efficient and timely food service during busy operations.
• Observe all health, safety, and hygiene rules consistently.

Qualifications and Experience

The position is intended for candidates with around 0 to 2 years of kitchen experience in hotels, restaurants, or catering environments. A Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts or Kitchen Production is preferred. Candidates should have a basic understanding of cooking techniques and kitchen workflows, and prior exposure to international or branded kitchens will be considered an advantage.

This role is based at Grand Hyatt Doha in Doha, Qatar. It is a full-time, on-site position.
