Role overview
A secondary school in Cardiff, South Glamorgan is looking for an experienced and reliable full-time cover supervisor to support day-to-day school operations. This position offers a daily pay rate of £105 and is suited to someone who is committed to helping students stay engaged and learn effectively when teaching staff are unavailable.
What you will do
In this role, you will step in to supervise classes during teacher absences and help keep lessons running smoothly. You may be required to work from pre-set lesson materials, maintain a calm and orderly classroom, and guide students with their academic tasks.
You will also need to move quickly between different lesson plans and teaching approaches, adapt to varied student needs across multiple key stages, and stay organised in a busy school environment.
Beyond classroom cover, you may occasionally support other school activities such as break and lunch supervision, accompanying pupils on school outings, and handling general administrative tasks when needed.
Skills and qualities required
The school is seeking someone with a strong background in cover supervision or a similar support role, along with a good grasp of the national curriculum and assessment expectations. Strong classroom behaviour management is essential, as is the ability to build positive working relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
You should be flexible, quick to adapt, and confident working in changing situations. A genuine interest in education and in supporting the wider development of young people is also important.
