About the role
AutoPlay is a software company that helps automotive dealerships and dealer groups convert the leads they work hard to win into paying customers. Its platform supports smarter lead handling through tools for sales pipelines, listing data, email and video outreach, analytics, and automation, with more features planned.
This is the company’s first dedicated marketing hire, which means there is no inherited playbook or fixed way of working. The role offers a true chance to shape the strategy, build the marketing function from the ground up, and influence the business’s next stage of growth.
The team is looking for a full-stack marketer who is comfortable working across digital marketing, content, events, automation, search, and brand, instead of focusing on just one specialty. The position is designed for someone who uses AI tools daily to help deliver the output of a much larger team while still protecting quality and brand voice.
Key responsibilities
You will be expected to create a genuine lead pipeline for a B2B audience using digital channels, trade and legacy media, and in-person events. You will own the funnel from initial contact through to qualified lead status, working closely with the sales team along the way.
The job also includes managing content, brand, SEO, AI-search visibility, and marketing automation, as well as translating product capabilities into messaging that resonates with automotive dealers. A key part of the role is tracking performance, being clear about what is and is not working, and deciding where budget should be deployed next.
There will also be occasional travel across New Zealand and Australia, so the role is not fully desk-bound.
Candidate profile
Experience level is not the main focus. The employer cares more about proven outcomes than the number of years spent in the field.
The ideal person will have a record of measurable impact, be comfortable balancing strategy with hands-on execution, and bring a practical, action-oriented mindset. They should be open to new ways of working, genuinely enthusiastic about AI tools, and able to think creatively while leading change. Strong writing and clear communication are also important.
Working style
This is an office-first position. The company believes the best strategy is built through in-person collaboration, and the role is therefore based in the office rather than being remote.
Flexibility can be available once someone is established, but it is earned over time rather than assumed from the start. The company is understanding about the realities of life and occasional needs for flexibility, such as appointments or focused project work.
Location
The role is office-based and open to candidates in Auckland, New Zealand, or in Australia, specifically Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, or Perth.
Must-have requirements
Applicants must have permanent working rights in New Zealand or Australia and must be fluent in both written and spoken English.
Additional details
Anyone interested in the role should be ready to show the outcomes they have achieved and demonstrate how they have used AI in their work. The company places more value on results than on how long those results took to achieve.
