HSE Coordinator

Job Summary

The HSE Coordinator will support health, safety, and environmental controls onboard vessels and across surrounding work areas during refit activities. The role involves preparing safety-related logistics before vessel arrival, monitoring compliance through inspections and permit checks, and ensuring emergency equipment remains ready for use.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and organize all required HSE materials and logistics before vessel arrival, such as fire boxes and coordination tag boards, and secure these items after refit work is completed.
• Perform atmospheric gas testing in all confined spaces as required by mandatory safety procedures.
• Check that emergency equipment onboard the vessel is in proper working condition and ready for use.
• Conduct routine inspections of ongoing work activities onboard the vessel.
• Verify that all requirements under the permit-to-work system are being followed.
• Carry out daily inspections on the assigned vessel and in nearby work areas to uphold both mandatory and company safety standards.
• Help involve workers in safe work practices and support accident prevention and fire prevention initiatives.
• Take part in emergency response activities, including firefighting, personnel rescue, and pollution control.

Key Requirements

• Prior experience in shipbuilding or ship repair is preferred.
• Background in emergency response and firefighting is required or strongly preferred.
• Must be physically fit and in good health.
• Basic computer skills are not necessary for this role; the candidate is expected to be computer illiterate.
• Should be willing and able to work shift schedules.
