Junior Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

Mainline is seeking a motivated Junior Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial department. This permanent, full-time position is based in Cork and involves managing national projects and the company's estimating/bid functions. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the role requires strong business acumen to support commercial, estimating, and bidding activities. The ideal candidate will ensure project quality, budget adherence, and timely completion within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, along with a high degree of professionalism and discretion, are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee cost control and conduct cost-benefit analyses.
• Perform risk analysis evaluations.
• Manage monthly valuations, including processing additional works.
• Prepare and present monthly/weekly cost and value reports.
• Support the procurement process for materials and subcontractors.
• Administer subcontractor accounts.
• Conduct re-measurements of completed work.
• Assist in the preparation of tender submissions and Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQ).

Qualifications, Skills, Attributes, and Experience

• Possess a third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying.
• Have at least 3 years of experience working with a contractor; prior experience in MV/HV electrical work is advantageous.
• Demonstrate commercial knowledge and understanding.
• Exhibit strong IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and diagnostic skills.
• Possess effective planning abilities.
• Showcase strong communication skills.
• Be capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously.
