Role Overview
The Mississippi Department of Employment Security is looking for a Maintenance Worker in Laurel, MS. This is a full-time, on-site position focused on keeping equipment, systems, and machinery running safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Do
The role involves hands-on maintenance and repair work across mechanical and electrical systems. The selected candidate will interpret technical documents, carry out testing, and support installation, layout, and repair activities for a range of equipment.
- Read and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering instructions.
- Use machine tools and related equipment as part of maintenance tasks.
- Carry out electronic and electrical system testing.
- Plan the layout, installation, repair, and upkeep of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Work with pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and machinery.
- Prepare, complete, and maintain required paperwork and reports.
Requirements
Applicants must have either a high school diploma or GED, or at least 2 years of work experience. In addition, a minimum of 2 years of maintenance work experience is required.
Additional Information
This position requires the ability to understand technical manuals and instructions, perform practical maintenance duties, and keep accurate documentation related to the work performed.
