Maintenance Worker

Overview

CoreCivic is seeking a Maintenance Worker for an institutional, secure environment in Lumpkin, Georgia. The role is part of a team focused on delivering high standards of professionalism and service while supporting the public good.

This position is responsible for keeping the facility’s structures, systems, equipment, vehicles, and grounds in working order. The work includes installation, upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair across several maintenance areas.

The pay rate provided for this role is $19.66 per hour.

Key Duties

• Keep the facility’s physical structure in safe and secure operating condition.
• Examine, identify issues with, and repair machines and equipment.
• Install and service electrical components, including wiring and related machinery parts.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance based on the established maintenance plan.
• Oversee and monitor inmates/residents assigned to the Maintenance Department.

Requirements

• A high school diploma, GED, or an equivalent credential is required.
• At least 2 years of experience in general maintenance or construction is required.
• Relevant technical or trade school coursework in maintenance or construction may replace the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Understanding of building construction and building systems is preferred.
• A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
