Role overview
An experienced Project Manager is needed to oversee the delivery of large customer-facing technology and infrastructure programs across Australia. The position suits a seasoned professional who has handled complex projects with several parallel workstreams, including infrastructure rollouts, software implementation projects, security-related initiatives, training activities, and coordination of third-party suppliers.
Core responsibilities
- Direct the full lifecycle of complex projects spanning multiple workstreams.
- Build and maintain detailed project schedules, plans, budgets, risk logs, dependency trackers, and resource plans.
- Coordinate workstream leaders, technical specialists, and external vendors to keep delivery on track.
- Act as the main client contact and manage customer relationships throughout the project.
- Run governance activities such as progress reporting, steering committee materials, and executive-level updates.
- Oversee scope, change, risk, and issue controls to support disciplined project execution.
- Track financial performance, forecasts, and budget adherence.
- Promote collaboration among teams working across different locations and remotely.
- Ensure the project meets security, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Manage interdependencies across infrastructure, software, security, and training streams.
- Support senior stakeholder decisions through clear communication and well-structured reporting.
Required experience and capabilities
- Substantial background delivering large-scale technology or infrastructure programs from start to finish.
- Proven ability to lead multiple simultaneous workstreams and cross-functional teams.
- Strong experience in customer-facing project delivery.
- Hands-on exposure to managing third-party suppliers and external vendors.
- Comfort working within formal governance and reporting structures.
- Solid command of project delivery practices, including scheduling, risk and issue management, scope control, change control, budget oversight, and resource planning.
- Experience managing teams distributed across different geographies and working remotely.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or similar scheduling tools.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to engage confidently with executive leaders and external partners.
Desirable background
- Prior delivery of data centre, infrastructure, or enterprise transformation programs.
- Experience with waterfall software delivery and SDLC-based projects.
- Exposure to border management, transport, aviation, or similar operational environments.
- Experience working with government bodies or in highly regulated settings.
- Familiarity with security-focused project delivery.
- Australian citizenship.
Qualifications
PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or an equivalent project management certification is considered highly desirable.
