Senior Network Administrator

Role overview

Join a global technology and professional services organization as a senior network administrator supporting enterprise mission IT operations. This role is part of a large network operations team and focuses on keeping LAN, WAN, and ICAN environments reliable, secure, and ready for a geographically dispersed user base. The position supports a forward-deployed austere site and may involve changing customer needs, rotational shifts, and 24/7/365 availability monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and manage routers, switches, and related networking software, including current Cisco IOS environments.
• Support the full lifecycle of local and wide area network devices and ancillary hardware.
• Work with ISP/OSP specialists on inside plant, outside plant, cabling, and trenching activities.
• Assist with troubleshooting, repair, fabrication, and installation of copper and fiber cable plant infrastructure.
• Handle patch panels, MDFs, CAT 5/6, RJ-11, and RJ-45 terminations, along with media converters, copper/fiber modems, and UPS installation, repair, and troubleshooting.
• Install copper and fiber systems in line with DoW TEMPEST standards, Army guide 3.15, and NSTISSI protective distribution system guidelines.
• Test cabling for signal strength, degradation, continuity, throughput, and availability.
• Splice and terminate both copper and fiber optic cables as needed.
• Keep technical knowledge current and maintain required certifications.
• Create network and rack elevation diagrams in Microsoft Visio or PowerPoint for accreditation packages.
• Support O&M activities and complete other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is required, though relevant years of experience may be accepted in place of the degree.
• At least 5 years of directly related experience.
• Hands-on knowledge of network infrastructure, network operations, and Cisco networking.
• Experience with VoIP provisioning and ongoing maintenance.
• Ability to ensure devices meet IAVA compliance and troubleshoot network issues to reduce operational risk.
• Understanding of TACLANE and other cryptographic devices, including configuration, key management, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with WAN circuits and Promina multiplexer equipment.
• Must hold a Secret-level clearance and be eligible to obtain Top Secret clearance; a T5/SSBI investigation is required.
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
• Candidate must be able to satisfy local country SOFA eligibility requirements.
• Required certifications include CCNA; CCNP is preferred.
• Additional Juniper certification or equivalent experience is valued.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification is required on day one.
• ITIL Foundation certification must be obtained within 90 days of joining.
• Project management credentials such as Project+, CAPM, or PMP are a plus.

Working conditions

This is a full-time onsite role with a standard 40-hour workweek. Less than 10% travel is expected. The role is located at ISR HAR KEREN - (APC254) in Keren, Anseba, Eritrea. Rotational shift work may be required to support continuous network monitoring and availability.

Compensation and benefits

The estimated annual salary range is USD 93,662 to USD 115,000. Final pay may vary based on experience, location, and contractual factors. International assignments may also include allowances, premium uplifts, relocation support, or transportation benefits in addition to base pay.
