Role overview
This position supports the Head of Value & Access in shaping and rolling out access, listing, pricing, and reimbursement plans so that market access outcomes are optimized for Nigeria and Ghana.
Key responsibilities
- Create and put into action the country pricing and market access strategy and operating plan, while keeping the competitive environment in view to help guide the broader market approach.
- Track reimbursement and pricing developments in the assigned market on an ongoing basis, spotting risks and opportunities that may affect uptake for new launches and the wider healthcare ecosystem.
- Carry out market assessments by identifying existing and potential access drivers, then develop a strong value narrative that positions the portfolio against available alternatives.
- Assist the SSA Head of Value & Access in building pricing approaches based on market needs and dynamics, including the overall market access requirements for both new and established products.
- Support key account managers with strategic pricing decisions that fit market conditions and align with country leadership and SSA direction.
- Work with payers and other decision makers involved in technical drug assessment to gather insights that can be translated into effective action.
- Help localize the documents needed for account listing requirements, including the global value dossier, health economic models, and value story materials.
- Provide training to key account managers and cross-functional teams on global and local HEOR tools, models, and objection handling as required.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of advocacy initiatives that support priority brands and key assets in the assigned country.
- Take part in priority portfolio policy discussions and coordinate with internal teams to maintain policy alignment and active engagement across SSA.
Performance indicators
- Keep track of pricing, access, regulatory changes, and major policy developments in the assigned market.
- Address cross-functional access matters with Regulatory Affairs, PA, and country management teams.
- Represent the company in key trade associations and policy working groups focused on pricing and market access, and help drive external advocacy on related topics.
- Ensure effective deployment of the value story in the assigned country.
Education and experience
A university degree in Life Sciences, Business Management, Health Economics, or a closely related field is preferred. Candidates should bring at least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, ideally with exposure to market access, reimbursement dossier preparation, external affairs, advocacy, and pricing.
Skills and competencies
- Strong capability in managing external stakeholders within healthcare or pharmaceutical settings.
- Skilled in negotiation, persuasion, and influencing others.
- Hands-on experience developing and managing pricing and market access strategies.
- Ability to explain value story topics clearly and convincingly.
- Good collaboration skills with the ability to work across internal functions and outside partners.
- Solid understanding of regulatory, access, and market conditions at country level.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
