Job description
Role Overview
Broadview Lifecare is seeking a full-time Activities Coordinator to join its team in Whanganui, Manawatū-Whanganui. This permanent role offers at least 32 hours each week, with rostered morning, afternoon, and weekend shifts. The position sits within a warm aged care setting where the focus is on delivering compassionate support and enriching day-to-day life for residents.
Broadview Lifecare is an 85-bed care home and hospital, supported by a 27-unit village and located in a rural environment. The service includes five care levels, one of which is a Mental Health Recovery unit, creating a unique workplace with broad learning opportunities. The organisation is part of Heritage Lifecare, a major aged care provider in New Zealand with 42 care homes and 20 villages across the country. The team welcomes people from diverse cultures and backgrounds and values a caring, whānau-oriented approach.
What the Role Involves
In this role, you will help design and deliver activity programmes that respond to each resident’s physical, spiritual, cultural, cognitive, and emotional needs. The job calls for someone who enjoys working with people, brings warmth and compassion, and can help create a supportive and positive atmosphere.
You will be responsible for planning and running activities, outings, events, and community engagement opportunities. The role also includes working closely with residents, their whānau and family, and the wider team to ensure care is safe, supportive, and delivered to a high standard.
Skills and Experience Needed
Applicants should ideally have prior experience caring for others, preferably in an aged care setting. A minimum NZQA Level 2 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, or an equivalent New Zealand or overseas qualification such as a Bachelor of Nursing or Diploma in Nursing, is required.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities are important, along with a genuine service mindset and a friendly, positive approach. A full New Zealand driver licence is essential, as is confidence in driving a van. Candidates should also show commitment to continuous improvement and understand the importance of health and safety practices.
What the Employer Offers
The role comes with the chance to work for one of New Zealand’s more progressive aged care organisations. It offers a competitive pay scale based on skills and experience, along with opportunities for professional growth and advancement. You will also join a collaborative and supportive workplace where your work can make a meaningful difference to residents’ lives.
Additional Information
Applications are open until 10 Jul 2026. The employer may review applications as they arrive and interview candidates before the closing date. Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand, as visa support may not be available for this position. The role is identified as a Healthcare Support Worker position.
