Job responsibilities

The assigned duties can differ by division, and the list below is representative rather than exhaustive.

  • Handle complex, sensitive, and confidential administrative tasks in support of the divisional manager and administrator.
  • Draft, review, proofread, and edit correspondence, documents, memos, spreadsheets, minutes, logs, and reports for final review or approval.
  • Share information on county policies and procedures with employees and members of the public, while also performing research, gathering data, and analyzing information for reports, presentations, and meetings.
  • Manage the division email account.
  • Provide administrative support for boards or committees, including the Small Business Enterprise Advisory Committee, and prepare materials for presentation to the Board of County Commissioners.
  • Record, transcribe, and publish board minutes from audio recordings or written notes.
  • Plan and coordinate meetings and agendas, gather support materials, organize staff reports, and prepare consolidated reports for staff, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure appeals and public hearing requests are processed promptly.
  • Work with elected officials, consultants, county employees, and the general public.
  • Maintain data used in software applications, generate management reports, and check information for compliance with county policies and procedures.
  • Take part in emergency response or emergency-related activities when needed.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least four years of secretarial or administrative experience. A suitable combination of education and experience may be accepted in place of the stated requirements.

Preferred qualifications

Experience as an administrative assistant or office support staff member is preferred, particularly in a government or business setting. Applicants should be able to type at least 40 correct words per minute and should have experience using MS Office, spreadsheet software, or presentation tools.

Salary and employment details

This is a full-time, onsite position in Orlando, FL. The pay grade is 013, with compensation ranging from $21.51 to $27.96 per hour. The role is non-exempt, and placement is based on education and experience.

Veterans preference
