Job description
About the role
This apprenticeship is designed to build the next generation of depot talent by giving you practical experience and structured training in hire desk operations. As an Apprentice Hire & Sales Coordinator, you will join a blended learning pathway that leads to an NVQ Level 2 in Hire Desk Operations, combining workplace learning with online study delivered by a specialist training provider.
Over the 2-year programme, you will develop the core knowledge and hands-on ability needed to work on a busy hire desk. The role covers stock control, purchasing, generating sales, handling customer enquiries, coordinating drivers, and making sure customer requirements are met efficiently. You will also gain exposure to customer service, sales techniques, administration, and credit control within a fast-paced, high-performing hire desk environment.
Working pattern and pay
Apprentices under 18 are expected to work up to 39 hours per week and start on £16,224 per year. Apprentices aged over 18 are expected to work up to 42.5 hours per week and start on £17,860 per year. Once Year 1 is successfully completed, pay moves to the National Minimum Wage for the apprentice’s age group.
What we’re looking for
To be considered for the apprenticeship, you should have 4 GCSE grades C/D, show genuine interest in customer service and sales, maintain a strong eye for detail and accuracy, and bring good communication and IT skills.
Benefits
The company offers a competitive salary with bonus potential, up to 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, the option to purchase up to 5 extra days of leave, a contributory pension scheme, life assurance, an employee welfare fund with company-funded social events, a cycle to work scheme, and a health and wellness package that includes a well-being hub, employee assistance helpline, annual flu jab, and eye tests.
