Responsibilities

The Assistant Principal will play a crucial role in strategic direction, focusing on behavior, attendance, punctuality, and ensuring up-to-date policies. This includes leading key stage transitions, developing student leadership and voice, and fulfilling the responsibilities of the Child Protection Officer, with a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures. Collaboration with the Head of Inclusion, School Counsellor, and the wider Aldar Education Inclusion team is essential. The role also involves overseeing extracurricular activity (CA) provision, implementing the behavior policy, and liaising with stakeholders to maintain student welfare. In terms of support for learning, the Assistant Principal will model outstanding teaching, enhance personalized learning approaches, and support teaching staff development through organizing meetings and leading professional development sessions. They will ensure consistent application of pupil engagement strategies, support Heads of Department in monitoring teaching quality, initiate improvement plans for underperforming staff, and foster a stimulating learning environment.

Leadership and Management

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Assistant Principal will contribute to school policy development and monitoring, and accurately report on teaching and learning performance to various audiences. Budget management for allocated areas, assisting the Principal in shaping school direction, setting high expectations, participating in duty rotas, promoting teamwork, and liaising with senior Aldar Education colleagues for strategic development are key aspects of this role.

Qualifications and Experience

A Bachelor's Degree in Education or a B.Sc. with a PGCE is mandatory, with a Master's degree being desirable. A minimum of 6 years of experience is required, including at least 4 consecutive years of teaching performance exceeding standards, as evidenced by appraisals. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years in a middle leadership role is necessary, along with experience leading school initiatives that improved standards and achievement, and experience working with parents and external agencies.

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills

Essential skills include the ability to effectively use data for diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation of learning impact, strong organizational and multitasking capabilities, sound judgment, leadership proficiency, and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
