Role Overview

This full-time permanent position is for an experienced retail leader who enjoys working in a busy store environment and is ready to help deliver excellent customer experiences. As Assistant Store Manager, you will partner with the Store Manager to run day-to-day operations, guide the team, and create a positive in-store environment.

Location

The store is located in Derwent Park’s large-format retail precinct in Lutana, Tasmania. It is surrounded by major home and lifestyle retailers, has convenient car parking, is accessible by bus from Hobart and nearby suburbs, and is close to cafés and takeaway outlets for breaks during the day.

Working Pattern

The roster is set for Tuesday 8:30 am–3:30 pm, Wednesday 10:15 am–5:45 pm, Thursday 10:15 am–5:45 pm, Friday 8:30 am–5:45 pm, and Saturday 8:30 am–5:15 pm.

Key Duties

• Support the store manager in leading everyday store operations and ensuring the team works effectively.
• Encourage, coach, onboard, and train team members so they feel confident and valued.
• Deliver a customer-first experience by helping parents and carers with product knowledge and practical recommendations.
• Demonstrate products and create warm, welcoming interactions in store.
• Manage stock control, assist with inventory processes, and help reduce loss through good back-of-house practices.
• Work with store administration and warehouse staff to keep store operations running smoothly.
• Promote and maintain safe work practices in line with OH&S requirements.
• Help build a workplace culture that supports team performance and customer service standards.

Candidate Profile

You should be a hands-on retail leader who enjoys mentoring others, performing in a fast-moving environment, and contributing to a business that supports families. The ideal applicant is collaborative, detail-oriented, and motivated by strong service and sales outcomes.

Experience and Skills Required

• 2–3 years of retail leadership experience, with big-box retail preferred or experience as a store manager in a smaller format.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to mentor and develop team members.
• Proven ability to meet sales and performance targets.
• Strong attention to detail and a clear focus on safety and customer service.
