This role is based in Kingscourt, County Cavan, Ireland and sits within a frontline care setting. The position involves shift work across a 7-day rota, with service delivery operating around the clock.
What the role aims to do
The Assistant Support Worker / Social Care Worker position focuses on delivering person-centred care and helping service users build independence, confidence, and quality of life. The organisation also supports team members in developing their skills and providing high-quality care while maintaining professional working relationships.
Staff may support individuals with a range of complex needs, including autism, Asperger syndrome, acquired brain injuries, challenging behaviour, intellectual disabilities combined with Alzheimer’s or dementia, mental health rehabilitation and recovery, and personality disorders.
Key duties
Day-to-day work includes helping people with their personal plans, supporting them in community settings, assisting with education and skills development, and helping them reach individual goals and outcomes.
The role also involves practical daily living support such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, attending appointments, and accompanying people on family visits.
In addition, the post requires compliance with company policies, procedures, standards, regulations, and codes of practice wherever reasonably and practically possible.
