Job description

Role overview

This is a permanent full-time role within the Buying team, based in Sydney. The position reports to Neil Muc and offers a yearly package of $75,000 to $95,000.

Carma is a digital used-car business on a mission to make buying and selling vehicles simpler and far less stressful for customers. Its teams work across engineering, marketing, buying, and reconditioning in-house, creating a collaborative environment focused on delivering a better automotive experience.

The company is hiring an Automotive Inspector to support vehicle acquisition in the Kotara/Newcastle area from its newest hub. The role suits someone who knows cars well, enjoys detailed inspections, and can confidently help close deals with sellers.

Key duties

  • Travel to inspect customer vehicles and complete a full check from end to end.
  • Keep sellers informed about your arrival so the inspection experience stays clear and convenient.
  • Work through the inspection workflow step by step and compare the vehicle’s actual condition against the information provided.
  • Use negotiation skills to settle on prices that are fair for both Carma and the seller and finalise agreements during the visit.
  • Record inspection outcomes, supporting documents, and photos in the company system using an iPad.

Candidate profile

Ideal applicants are confident around cars, observant, comfortable working independently on the road, and able to build rapport with a wide range of sellers. The role also calls for someone who can follow a structured process, suggest practical improvements, and adapt their communication style to different people.

Additional information

The role requires a valid NSW driver’s licence and the flexibility to work a rotating roster, including every second Saturday.

What the employer offers

Carma promotes a social and collaborative workplace with events such as parties, go-karting, and bake sales. The business also provides strong training and career growth opportunities, along with discounts on Carma vehicles, parts, and NRMA cover.

Culture and inclusion

The company emphasizes teamwork, innovation, and enjoying the workday while maintaining a strong focus on diversity, inclusion, and safe working practices. Candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, and reasonable interview adjustments can be arranged if needed.
