Role summary
Rakuten Rewards is looking for a data-focused Business Analyst to turn data into practical recommendations that improve experiences for both shoppers and merchant partners. In this role, you will work closely with Product and Engineering teams to assess product performance, run experiments, and uncover opportunities to enhance the platform. You will use large datasets to guide priorities, support decision-making, and contribute to measurable business outcomes. The position offers strong exposure to leadership and the chance to shape product direction through analytics and experimentation.
What you will do
- Create analytical models and tracking approaches to measure product and campaign performance across consumer and merchant audiences.
- Plan, run, and review A/B tests and other large-scale experiments to support product enhancements.
- Work with Product and Engineering teams to surface opportunities, estimate potential impact, and rank initiatives.
- Develop repeatable dashboards and reports with SQL and BI platforms to provide stakeholders with timely insights.
- Perform detailed analysis to understand performance shifts and suggest optimization actions.
- Act as a go-to resource for the data sources and tools used to improve the product experience.
- Review reporting outputs for data accuracy and consistency, and help resolve mismatches or issues.
- Convert complex analytical findings into clear recommendations for the business.
- Communicate insights effectively to senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
- Apply statistical discipline to experiment design, measurement, and results interpretation.
- Document analysis methods and reporting practices to keep work standardized and transparent.
- Look for ways to continuously improve analytics and experimentation workflows.
Required qualifications
- Advanced SQL capability, including experience in large-scale or big data environments.
- Hands-on experience creating and interpreting A/B tests and experimentation setups.
- Strong understanding of statistical techniques for hypothesis testing and performance measurement.
- Working knowledge of reporting and visualization tools, with Tableau as a preferred option.
- Ability to translate data findings into practical, business-oriented insights.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Experience with experimentation platforms such as Optimizely, Adobe Target, or SiteSpect is an advantage.
- At least 2 years of experience in a Product Analyst or Business Analyst role, ideally in retail or e-commerce.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
- Exposure to digital product analytics and experimentation environments is preferred.

Compensation and benefits
The expected base salary plus discretionary bonus for this role is CAD 92,081 to CAD 142,081 per year, depending on the successful candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, business needs, and geographic location.
The selected candidate may also be eligible for stock options, health insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, RRSP matching, Personal Time Off (PTO), Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and additional employee benefits as they are introduced.
