Job description
Role overview
JD Ross Energy is hiring a Business Development Manager focused on EHV/HV primary systems in Germany. This is a permanent remote position with a salary range of €100,000 to €150,000 plus bonus. The role supports a globally recognised manufacturer of high-voltage and extra-high-voltage power equipment that delivers large-scale transmission infrastructure solutions across international markets.
The business has a strong background in transformers, grid infrastructure, and renewable energy integration, and works closely with national grid operators and major energy projects worldwide. The company is currently expanding across Germany and wider Europe to take advantage of ongoing transformer shortages and extended lead times affecting utilities, TSOs, and EPC contractors.
What the role involves
The position is centered on building on existing customer relationships while also developing new partnerships across Germany and Europe. The main objective is to position the company as a trusted supplier of HV and EHV transformer solutions and grid equipment.
Key duties
- Build and maintain strong relationships with utilities, transmission system operators, EPC contractors, developers, and major industrial energy consumers.
- Present and sell a portfolio of high-voltage products, including transformers, bushings, instrument transformers such as CTs, PTs, and CVTs, as well as wider grid technologies.
- Identify new commercial opportunities and manage the sales process from first contact through to contract award.
- Work closely with engineering, commercial, and project management teams to prepare competitive and compliant proposals.
- Take ownership of tendering activity, including technical and commercial clarifications, bid approach, and customer negotiations.
- Gather and share market intelligence such as competitor activity, pricing movements, and customer feedback to support strategy.
- Represent the company in the market through client visits, industry events, and travel across the region as needed.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in business development or account management within the energy or power infrastructure sector.
- Proven success in winning new business and growing existing accounts, ideally in transformer sales, substation primary equipment, or high-voltage electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge of German and wider European energy markets, with an established network across TSOs, EPC contractors, utilities, and developers.
- Good understanding of power transmission infrastructure and project-based sales cycles.
- Experience handling complex sales processes with multiple stakeholders and long lead-time opportunities.
- Commercially strong with solid negotiation and influencing capabilities.
- Fluency in German and English is preferred.
- Willingness to travel throughout Germany and Europe.
Additional information
This opportunity is positioned as a key hire for a business entering a high-demand market at an important stage of European expansion. The company is seeking someone who can help establish market presence, accelerate sales growth, and create durable partnerships in a supply-constrained sector.
The package includes a market-leading base salary along with a bonus structure aimed at attracting experienced professionals who can directly contribute to revenue and market penetration. Interviews are expected to begin from Monday 15th July.
