Role Overview
This is a full-time remote position for a Career Development Officer at Indian Institute Of Commerce, Lakshya. The selected professional will advise learners on academic and career paths, conduct individual counseling sessions, and help them define achievable career objectives. The role also involves planning and delivering online career workshops, webinars, and information sessions covering higher studies and professional certifications. In addition, the officer will develop relationships with industry contacts, alumni, and training partners to uncover opportunities for internships, placements, and skills enhancement.
Day-to-day work will include updating student records, monitoring progress and outcomes, preparing reports, and working closely with faculty and internal teams to weave career guidance into academic programs. The role calls for prompt communication, consistent follow-up with students, and a strong awareness of market trends and emerging career options.
Responsibilities
- Support learners through academic advice, career planning, and one-on-one counseling tailored to different backgrounds and goals.
- Design and run virtual workshops, webinars, and information sessions on higher education and professional certification paths.
- Coordinate with faculty, employers, alumni, and training providers to identify internships, placement leads, and upskilling opportunities.
- Keep student records accurate and current, and track learner progress, outcomes, and engagement.
- Prepare routine reports and maintain organized documentation for career services activities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align career guidance with academic programs and student needs.
- Respond quickly to student queries and maintain regular follow-up throughout the guidance process.
- Stay informed about industry developments, hiring trends, and new career pathways.
Requirements
- Strong background in student counseling, academic advising, and career guidance, with the ability to work with learners from varied profiles.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and people skills for individual sessions, group discussions, and online seminars.
- Experience handling relationships with multiple stakeholders such as faculty members, industry partners, alumni, and training organizations.
- Good organizational and administrative capability, including record management, data tracking, report creation, and use of digital tools or CRM platforms.
- Comfortable working with remote collaboration tools, learning management systems, and online communication software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Education, Psychology, Management, or a related discipline; a master’s degree or a relevant counseling/career development certification is a plus.
- Previous exposure to education, training, career services, or student engagement work is preferred.
- Ability to work independently, manage several priorities at once, and handle confidential information with professionalism.
