Role overview

The cashier will be a key point of contact for guests, ensuring a smooth payment experience, responsive service, and coordinated order handling in a restaurant setting. The role combines guest interaction, accurate billing, cash control, and close coordination with kitchen and service teams so that orders are processed and delivered without delay.

What you will do

  • Welcome customers in a friendly manner and respond quickly to questions, requests, or concerns.
  • Take food and beverage orders, enter them into the POS system, and compute the final bill correctly.
  • Accept payments in cash, by card, or through digital methods, and return the correct change when needed.
  • Keep the cashier station neat and stocked, including items such as receipt rolls and cash drawer supplies.
  • Track daily transactions and cash counts carefully, following reconciliation and cash-handling procedures.
  • Use the aggregator platform to verify tablet performance and connectivity for order processing.
  • Oversee online orders coming through the aggregator system and ensure they move through preparation and delivery on time.
  • Apply discounts and promotional offers accurately so pricing reflects the correct deal or campaign.
  • Check item availability through the digital inventory in the aggregator system and update stock or substitutions in real time.
  • Relay customer orders clearly to kitchen staff and prioritize them based on dine-in volume, delivery requests, or special instructions.
  • Handle phone enquiries and share accurate information about menu items, prices, specials, and related details.
  • Suggest add-on items and special offers to improve guest experience and support sales.
  • Work with kitchen and front-of-house teams to resolve complaints, requests, and service issues professionally.
  • Maintain familiarity with menu items, ingredients, and allergen details so customer questions are answered correctly.
  • Follow safety and security practices, including checking cash authenticity and escalating suspicious activity to a supervisor.
  • Support other front-of-house tasks when needed, such as seating guests, clearing tables, and keeping the dining area tidy.
  • Stay updated on promotions, events, and restaurant policies to give customers accurate information.
  • Join staff meetings and training sessions to strengthen product knowledge, service skills, and POS proficiency.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • Experience in cashiering or customer service, ideally in restaurants or hospitality, is an advantage.
  • Good numeracy skills and the ability to process payments accurately.
  • Strong communication and people skills for day-to-day interaction with guests and colleagues.
  • Comfort using POS systems and basic computer tools.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks efficiently in a busy, fast-moving setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational ability for managing several orders and priorities.
  • Capacity to stay composed and professional under pressure.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Understanding of food-service hygiene and sanitation expectations.
  • Basic familiarity with menu items, ingredients, and allergens is helpful.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift or carry trays and supplies when required.

Additional information

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The position involves active coordination with both the front counter and kitchen teams to keep restaurant operations running efficiently.
