Job description
Role overview
This opening is for a Cleaner at The Gateway, East Didsbury in Manchester, England, United Kingdom. The hourly pay is £12.91, and the vacancy closes on 19-06-2026. The role is part of a full-time, on-site team.
Who the employer is looking for
The ideal person will be upbeat, eager, and committed to doing a good job. No prior experience is required. What matters most is a positive attitude, a readiness to learn, and the ability to stay composed when things get busy. The employer says it can provide the training needed to help someone succeed.
This opportunity may suit someone seeking either a longer-term position or occasional extra shifts, provided they are dependable, personable, and comfortable working collaboratively.
Benefits and rewards
- Competitive pay.
- Complimentary meal and drink while on shift.
- 20% discount on food, drinks, and hotel stays for the employee plus up to three guests when off duty.
- An additional £1 per hour for shifts worked between midnight and 5:59am.
- Bonus opportunity of up to 19% of pay.
- Choice of guaranteed-hours or variable-hours contracts.
- Paid annual leave.
- Free shares after completing the required qualifying period.
- Loyalty reward scheme.
Main duties
The job focuses on keeping every part of the pub spotless so that guests enjoy a high standard of cleanliness throughout their visit.
Working hours can vary because the pubs open early and close late, so shifts may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and late finishes.
- Keep customer areas, toilets, the bar, kitchen, staff spaces, and outdoor areas clean and tidy.
- Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties in line with the standard operating procedures.
- Use cleaning products and equipment safely and according to the correct process.
- Track stock levels of cleaning supplies and inform the manager when replenishment is needed.
- Escalate maintenance concerns and pest-control issues to the duty manager.
- Interact politely with customers by greeting them and saying thank you and goodbye.
- Complete induction, job-specific, and refresher training, while also supporting ongoing improvement efforts.
Training and progression
The company notes that many current team leaders and managers began in entry-level kitchen or bar roles. Development support may include structured on-the-job learning, apprenticeships, management academies, cross-training into bar, kitchen, or hotel work, and routes into team-leader and shift-leader positions.
Working environment and suitability
The employer describes the workplace as inclusive and welcoming, with a focus on helping people feel comfortable being themselves regardless of background, preferences, or beliefs.
The role may not be appropriate for under-18s because of the shift pattern and lone working. If needed, there may be other openings such as front-of-house or kitchen roles. The vacancy may close early if applications are received in large numbers.
Schedule details
This position is set at 15 hours per week. The listed working window is 6:30 to 9:30 every day from Monday through Sunday.
