Overview
Qatar Duty Free, part of Qatar Airways, is looking for a Commis Chef I to support food preparation across its food and beverage outlets in Doha. The role sits within a large, fast-growing hospitality and retail environment at Hamad International Airport, where the focus is on consistently delivering high standards, quality presentation, and customer satisfaction.
The position involves preparing meals according to the production schedule, following standard recipes, and working in line with HACCP food safety requirements. The successful candidate will help maintain a clean, efficient kitchen operation while supporting the overall food quality and cost-control goals of the team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare dishes according to the production plan, measuring ingredients accurately and ensuring each plate is consistently finished to a high standard.
- Keep kitchen stock under control by organising ingredients properly, maintaining mise en place levels, and using storage practices that help reduce waste.
- Track, rotate, and date all food items to support inventory control, limit spoilage, and help protect kitchen profitability.
- Cook and present menu items in line with company standards so that flavour, texture, and presentation match the required specification.
- Check raw ingredients regularly and escalate any hygiene or quality concerns to the Sous Chef so food safety procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
- High school completion is required.
- A certificate in Catering or Professional Cookery is needed.
- HACCP training must be completed.
- Prior experience working in a Commis Chef role is expected.
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience is required.
