Role overview
Greenbank Services Club in Hillcrest, Queensland is looking for an energetic Commis Chef to join its catering operation on a full-time basis. In this role, you will work closely with the Catering Manager/Executive Chef, Head Chef, and Senior Chefs to help deliver memorable dining experiences at an award-winning venue, including the 2026 Queensland Club of the Year and Boutique Dining Restaurant of the Year (Gardens Steak and Seafood).
Key duties
- Support senior kitchen staff with preparing, cooking, and plating a wide variety of menu items across both kitchens.
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards consistently throughout kitchen operations.
- Complete assigned kitchen duties promptly and to a consistently high standard.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and management to keep service running smoothly.
- Take part in rotating kitchen responsibilities as required.
- Share ideas that may improve or expand menu offerings.
- Help keep the kitchen tidy, orderly, and fully stocked at all times.
Candidate profile
The club is seeking someone with Commercial Cookery training or equivalent experience gained in a busy, high-volume environment. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced team setting, have a strong grasp of food hygiene practices, and bring a genuine focus on detail, consistency, and presentation. Good planning, organisation, and a willingness to work in a team-led environment are also important, along with enthusiasm for creating inventive and appealing dishes.
