Job description

Role overview

The Communications Manager will be a key contributor on the Strategic Communications team, helping drive both proactive and responsive communications for Disney Entertainment Television. The position focuses on daily media relations, crisis communications support, and crafting messaging that safeguards and elevates the company’s business, talent, and brands.

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Communications, this person will work closely with teams across Communications, Publicity, Marketing, Legal, Labor Relations, and other groups within Disney Entertainment Television. The ideal candidate is an experienced writer who can quickly turn information from multiple sources into clear, compelling narratives, while also staying organized in a fast-paced environment.

This role also requires strong judgment and calm execution during sensitive or rapidly changing situations. A successful candidate should already have relationships with entertainment journalists and be able to develop additional trusted contacts across media and industry partners.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and polish message frameworks that support titles, executives, and brand campaigns.
  • Handle press questions and keep in regular contact with important entertainment reporters and media organizations.
  • Contribute to crisis communication planning and execution for issues involving talent, content, and staff.
  • Identify opportunities for executive visibility and shape the strategy needed to support those moments.
  • Coordinate logistics for executive interviews, speaking engagements, and media appearances, while advising on issue-focused messaging.
  • Research and prepare reports, summaries, remarks, talking points, and press statements when needed.
  • Work across departments within The Walt Disney Company and Disney Entertainment Television to maintain a coordinated and collaborative communications approach.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience across the areas below.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to shape ideas and strategy into polished materials.
  • Hands-on experience with crisis communications, preferably within a streaming service, television network, or studio.
  • Ability to contribute effectively as part of a strategic communications team and collaborate with internal stakeholders.
  • Comfort managing several priorities at once in a proactive and decisive manner.
  • Background supporting communications or messaging campaigns across trade and consumer media, including interview and press-event support.
  • Existing relationships with entertainment journalists are strongly preferred.
  • Experience in content publicity is preferred.
  • Awareness of industry trends and related business news is preferred.
  • Genuine interest in television and familiarity with current programming and talent across entertainment is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in communications, journalism, and/or public relations.

Compensation and benefits

The California hiring range for this role is $115,500 to $154,800 per year. Final base pay may differ based on factors such as location, experience, skills, job-related knowledge, and internal equity.

A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may also be offered, along with the company’s full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the level and position.
