Role summary
This part-time, on-site CAD Technician position is based in Richmond, BC. The selected candidate will create precise 2D drawings and 3D models for exterior mouldings and wall systems, working from project requirements and internal standards.
Key work
On a daily basis, the technician will turn design ideas and site measurements into accurate CAD output, revise drawings as feedback comes in, and keep files and documentation well organized. The role also requires working closely with production, sales, and project coordination teams so that designs are practical, efficient, and compatible with manufacturing processes.
In addition, the position may involve supporting CAD software users, handling basic workstation upkeep related to design computers, and resolving minor technical problems that could slow down design work.
Qualifications and skills
Applicants should be comfortable using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar software to produce detailed drawings and architectural layouts. A background in architectural technology, drafting, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
Strong visual and spatial understanding, the ability to interpret architectural and construction drawings, and a high level of accuracy are important for this role. Good communication, teamwork, task prioritization, and deadline management are also needed, especially in a manufacturing or construction environment.
The position additionally calls for basic technical support ability, troubleshooting knowledge, computer maintenance skills, and familiarity with operating systems such as Windows for managing design files and equipment efficiently.
