Job description

Overview

This is a long-term contract opportunity with a national operator for an experienced Construction Supervisor focused on infrastructure work. The role is based on a residential arrangement at a site in Qatar.

Role Details

Title: Construction Supervisor (Infrastructure)

Start: Immediate availability is preferred, typically within a one-month notice period.

Location: Qatar site, Mesaieed

Work Pattern: 6 working days each week, with shifts of 8 to 10 hours per day, or as required by the project.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee EPIC contractors while construction work is being executed on site.
  • Review detailed design drawings, method statements, material requisitions, and related project documents.
  • Coordinate the contractors’ mobilization process at site.
  • Monitor and authorize construction activities, including inspections, material submissions, working drawings, and document processing.
  • Carry out routine daily checks on contractor personnel and completed work from the previous day to confirm adherence to contractual requirements.
  • Manage mechanical construction tasks, including site investigations and site surveys.
  • Supervise the installation of fire electric/diesel pumps and jockey pumps.
  • Oversee deluge system piping and underground firefighting piping works.
  • Monitor the installation of fire water tanks.
  • Apply practical knowledge of deluge and sprinkler systems.
  • Keep a daily progress log, including special remarks, and report workmanship issues or contractual deviations with suggested corrective measures.
  • Sign work permits on behalf of the client and ensure contractors comply with the conditions stated in consolidated permits.
  • Contribute to the preparation of as-built drawings and documentation.
  • Prepare punch lists for completed work before handover to the client, with close attention to all equipment and quality verification.
  • Work in coordination with other client construction supervisors covering electrical, architectural, and instrumentation disciplines.
  • Report site issues, events, progress updates, trends, and improvement recommendations to the client senior construction supervisor.
  • Take responsibility for work in progress, inspections, issue reporting, and accident prevention by enforcing client safety standards on site.
  • Coordinate with the QC Inspector on quality-related matters.
  • Coordinate with the HSE Supervisor on safety-related matters.
  • Prepare daily activity reports and update the client and asset holders, according to the approved distribution matrix, on progress, constraints, and short-term look-ahead plans.

Qualifications

The candidate should hold a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from an internationally recognized university.

Experience and Technical Background

A minimum of 10 to 15 years of overall experience is required, with a background in construction of EHV substations up to 132kV and above. The preferred profile should include exposure to mechanical works associated with substation electrical equipment, HVAC equipment, fire alarm and loss prevention systems, and building services.

Skills and Communication

Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to work effectively with internal teams, external departments, agencies, contractors, and vendors.
