Job description
Role overview
L.E.K. Consulting is an international strategy advisory firm that helps ambitious organisations tackle complex business challenges. Founded in 1983, the firm operates across 27 offices globally with around 3,000 professionals. It combines the scale of a multinational with the feel of a close-knit, supportive team. This Consultant opening is available in Melbourne or Sydney.
What the role involves
The Consultant sits at the centre of the case team and works closely with Associates, Managers and Partners. This position carries responsibility from the start for leading a group of Associates, breaking down strategic issues, shaping recommendations and presenting those recommendations clearly.
- Work with Partners and Managers to define the main business questions that need to be answered.
- Build a structured approach for the analysis, including plans for researching market growth drivers, competitor positioning and wider market trends.
- Lead, coach and support junior Associates in their day-to-day work.
- Plan and prioritise several workstreams, manage milestones and use project planning tools effectively while maintaining strong client engagement.
- Ensure the quality of your own work and the output produced by the wider team.
- Drive the case forward so the team delivers practical, accurate answers to the client’s problem.
- Help shape the final output and participate in presenting the conclusions to the client.
- Identify possible new business opportunities and escalate them to senior leaders.
- Give timely feedback to the team and share constructive upward feedback with the Manager and Partner.
Candidate profile
The firm is looking for someone with prior strategy consulting or corporate strategy experience in relevant industries. The ideal person is highly driven, creative and commercially minded, with strong analytical ability and confidence working through ambiguity. Experience leading teams or managing end-to-end projects is important, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Eligibility and application details
This role requires previous strategy consulting experience in advisory or corporate environments. Applicants who are MBA graduates without management consulting experience should wait for the future “MBA - Consultant” opening when it becomes available. All applicants must have full Australian working rights. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, and a CV, cover letter and academic transcripts are required for consideration.
Why join L.E.K. Consulting
The role offers exposure to shorter case cycles than many competitors, which can accelerate learning through broader client, industry and problem-solving experience. Consultants work across Strategy, Transactions, and Organisation and Performance assignments, and benefit from regular learning through the monthly Back to the Office Day (BTTOD). The firm promotes based on merit and development rather than a fixed timeline, while also offering strong access to senior clients and partners. Flexible and remote working arrangements are supported at an individual level. The workplace culture is described as energetic and social, with employee groups and committees such as Pride@L.E.K., Women in Business, Community Engagement, Ministry of Fun, and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
Diversity and inclusion
L.E.K. Consulting is an equal opportunity employer and values a diverse, inclusive workforce. The organisation states that all employees are treated with respect and dignity. It also supports affinity groups including Pride@LEK, Mosaic@LEK and Women@LEK, and marks awareness and education events throughout the year. The company also acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional custodians of the land on which it operates and pays respect to Elders past, present and future.
