Cost & Estimation Engineer

Role Overview

This position is focused on building dependable cost estimates, tracking spend against budgets, and helping the business make informed decisions during design and development. The role works closely with stakeholders, reviews proposals and technical documents, and uses cost tools and software to produce accurate estimates and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

• Set quantity estimation targets as part of the design and development workflow.
• Review proposals, specifications, and related documentation, then coordinate with stakeholders to calculate item costs and identify economical solutions.
• Apply cost estimation methods, tools, and software models to create and maintain precise cost data.
• Develop cost estimates, compare alternatives, and suggest improvements where needed.
• Evaluate cost efficiency, monitor actual spend against budget, and share regular status updates to keep forecasts on track.
• Review data and information to spot issues or potential problem areas.
• Look for opportunities to reduce costs through rate analysis and detailed cost reviews.
• Support cost tracking and reporting systems, while keeping an eye on trends.
• Prepare periodic cost and expenditure statements, reports, and supporting records for internal use.
• Assist all cost estimating activities and contribute ideas for improving processes.
• Provide cost impact estimates during change requests and monitor associated activities through completion.

Requirements

• Ability to assess costs using technical documents, proposals, and specifications.
• Working knowledge of cost estimation methods, analytical tools, and relevant software packages.
• Strong capability in budget tracking, variance review, and status reporting.
• Comfort with data analysis, problem detection, and cost optimization review.
• Experience supporting change-related cost assessment and monitoring work.
• Proactive mindset with an orientation toward process improvement and reliable documentation.
