Role overview

This opportunity is with a well-capitalized e-commerce startup in Riyadh, supported by a major retail group, as it looks to appoint its first permanent Chief Technology Officer. The company is already operating and expanding, but the technology function needs to be taken much further. The role combines hands-on building with senior leadership.

The CTO will be responsible for setting the full technology strategy and creating a fully integrated, company-owned platform. This environment will cover ecommerce, warehouse management, order processing, logistics, point of sale, marketplace activity, and data systems. The objective is to build a scalable proprietary ecosystem that strengthens the business across the GCC.

Key responsibilities

• Set the long-range technology vision and turn it into an executable roadmap.
• Design modular, API-led systems that can support growth across omnichannel retail and ecommerce.
• Develop internal solutions across WMS, OMS, ERP, POS, shipping, and marketplace connectivity.
• Lead technical architecture decisions and manage all external integrations.
• Recruit, guide, and inspire strong engineering and product teams.
• Coordinate internal developers as well as outside agencies and implementation partners.
• Deliver quickly without compromising reliability, scalability, or product quality.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate brings over 10 years of experience in software engineering and technology leadership. A strong background in building proprietary platforms for retail, ecommerce, logistics, or warehousing is essential. You should have deep working knowledge of WMS, OMS, ERP, POS, and inventory system architecture.

This position suits someone who has built solutions from the ground up rather than simply assembling off-the-shelf SaaS products. You should also have experience leading engineering teams in fast-growing businesses, along with a practical, execution-oriented mindset and strong operational judgment.

Applicants must be based in Riyadh or open to relocating there.

Additional information

This is a permanent leadership hire for the company’s first CTO position, with responsibility for both architecture and team management. The remit is to create a scalable, internally owned technology stack that can support the business as it grows across the region.
