Job Summary

The Custodian will perform cleaning services for University facilities, adhering to established procedures. This role involves maintaining buildings, classrooms, offices, and restrooms, and utilizing both manual tools and powered equipment for cleaning assigned areas, furnishings, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Sanitize and clean restrooms according to established practices.
• Dust, wipe, polish, and move furniture and building furnishings as needed.
• Perform floor care, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping, buffing, and applying sealers/finishes.
• Empty, clean, and replace wastebaskets and trash containers.
• Wash interior and exterior windows and blinds, and clean interior walls, removing adhesives, tacks, and graffiti.
• Collect and transport recyclable materials to designated recycling dumpsters.
• Replace light bulbs as necessary.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of facilities for various events and functions.
• Secure buildings by locking and unlocking doors, checking windows, and reporting any unauthorized occupants.
• Follow safety guidelines for chemical and supply usage and contribute to inventory control.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of relevant work experience.
• A valid driver's license.
• Ability to operate a University vehicle.

Additional Information

• This is a non-exempt position paid biweekly.
• The work environment may occasionally require hours beyond 40 per week.
• Travel may be necessary.
• Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings.
• The role requires standing, bending, walking, and lifting throughout the day.
