Job description

About the Role

Jacobs is looking for an Architecture Designer to contribute to advanced facilities work that supports pharmaceutical, FMCG, and microelectronics projects, including related research and development environments. The role involves turning early-stage ideas into practical design outcomes that help deliver smarter, more connected, and more sustainable built environments.

What You Will Do

  • Work on facility design assignments for pharmaceutical, FMCG, microelectronics, and associated R&D spaces.
  • Interpret spoken directions, rough sketches, and digital inputs from the Process Architect or Lead Architect and convert them into design alternatives, BIM models, and drawings.
  • Apply a working understanding of pharma facility functions, including production areas, laboratories, utility buildings, and similar spaces in microelectronics sites such as OSATs, FABs, and utility zones.
  • Incorporate GMP-related considerations into design work, including area classifications, hazardous area classifications, equipment layouts, equipment movement, and construction sequencing, while seeking guidance from the Process Architect when needed.
  • Use knowledge of local planning standards, statutory rules, and safety-in-design guidelines to support compliant design solutions.
  • Manage the Level of Detail progression of BIM models according to the project stage.
  • Create architectural presentation outputs such as rendered visuals, walkthroughs, and 3D printed models using advanced visualization tools and plugins, producing multiple options as required.
  • Take part in model review and clash-resolution discussions, and lead meetings during early phases until all disciplines are onboarded.
  • Use Revit, AutoCAD, and advanced 3D modelling tools to build models from the ground up, create parametric families, prepare templates for drawings and documentation, and support quantity extraction for architectural elements.
  • Produce drawings from Revit models in line with project requirements under the direction of the Process Architect.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience working on advanced facility projects.
  • Hands-on exposure to pharmaceutical, FMCG, and microelectronics sectors, along with their related R&D facilities.
  • Strong grasp of the functional aspects of pharma facilities and comparable knowledge of microelectronics environments.
  • Ability to turn instructions and rough inputs into design outputs within a BIM workflow.
  • Understanding of GMP requirements, site classifications, equipment arrangements, and construction sequencing.
  • Working knowledge of applicable planning norms, statutory requirements, and safety-related design principles.
  • Ability to work with BIM LOD progression through different project stages.
  • Advanced capability in Revit and AutoCAD, including model setup, family creation, templates, documentation, and drawing extraction.
  • Degree or diploma qualification in architecture from a COA-recognized institute in India.
