Role Overview

This remote, full-time exempt position is for a Digital Content Specialist reporting to the National Digital Organizing Manager. The role is classified as non-union and is based in the United States, with occasional travel of up to 25%.

About the Organization

For Our Future Action Fund and For Our Future were founded in 2016 and operate a large, ongoing progressive field program across key states. Their mission is to strengthen progressive infrastructure and support economic opportunity, strong public schools, climate justice, and racial and social justice. Working with volunteers and community partners, the organization focuses on meaningful conversations, building long-term relationships, winning elections, influencing local issues, and increasing collective civic power.

What the Role Involves

The ideal candidate is highly comfortable working in digital environments, pays close attention to detail, and can create compelling content across channels. This role calls for a strong writer with a creative eye who stays current with online trends and knows how to use social media to connect with voters and potential volunteers.

This assignment is expected to continue through at least November 3, 2026.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the daily upkeep of program websites and produce written and visual materials that are published consistently across digital channels.
  • Manage posting activity and monitor the overall performance and health of email and social media platforms.
  • Work with State Digital Program Managers on state-level content requests and fast-turnaround response needs.
  • Maintain and organize press coverage across states.
  • Develop graphics and video assets that improve volunteer and voter engagement online.
  • Keep a content calendar updated so publishing stays timely and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Watch social media activity to spot important messengers and influential accounts.
  • Follow emerging digital trends and apply insights to content strategy and authentic audience engagement.
  • Partner with other teams to connect digital work with organizing efforts and bridge online engagement with offline activity.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed, with or without prior notice.

Required Qualifications

  • At least two campaign cycles or two years of relevant experience in digital content work, including strong graphic design and video editing experience, or two years of related training or education.
  • Hands-on experience with graphic design tools; Canva is preferred.
  • Ability to think strategically and connect digital work to larger campaign objectives.
  • Interest in digital organizing, including peer-to-peer texting, distributed events, and relational organizing.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities and goals can shift quickly.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Ability to develop persuasive stories and creative content for varied audiences.
  • Preferred familiarity with website hosting platforms, especially Squarespace.
  • Preferred experience with backend link tracking.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This is a remote role based in headquarters, but it may involve occasional travel to offices in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, along with in-person interaction with employees and community partners. The job also requires extended periods of desk work and computer use, and the ability to carry up to 15 pounds.

Hours of Work

Standard hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. However, work may also be required during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. During campaign cycles or other critical deadlines, blackout periods may apply, and time off is generally restricted except for emergencies.

Benefits

  • Health insurance with 95% of the premium covered by the employer.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Retirement savings plan with matching contributions up to the first 5%.
  • $150 monthly reimbursement for cell phone and internet costs.
  • Monthly mileage stipend.
  • 13 paid vacation days each calendar year, plus additional paid holidays.

Health and Safety

The organization strongly supports employee and community health. Team members are encouraged to stay current on COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters when eligible, though this is not a condition of employment. Employees must follow health and safety rules as implemented by the organization, and reasonable accommodations may be reviewed individually in line with applicable laws. Requests for accommodation forms can be directed to Human Resources at hr@forourfuturefund.org. Health and safety expectations related to COVID-19 may change as public guidance and laws evolve.

Equal Opportunity and Inclusion

The employer is committed to equal opportunity in hiring and employment. All qualified individuals are considered without discrimination based on protected characteristics under applicable local, state, or federal law. This applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including hiring, pay, promotion, leave, transfer, termination, and training. Reasonable accommodation for the application or interview process is available by contacting hr@forourfuturefund.org.

Hiring Process Technology

The organization may use artificial intelligence tools to help with parts of the hiring workflow, such as application review, resume analysis, or response evaluation. These tools support the recruitment team, but final hiring decisions are made by people. Candidates seeking more details about data handling may contact the organization directly.
