Role overview
Qatar Airways is hiring a Digital Direct Manager for Africa, based in Doha. The position focuses on shaping and delivering the regional digital direct plan, with the goal of making QR.com the customer’s first-choice booking channel across website and mobile platforms.
Reporting to the Manager, Digital & Marketing, you will help drive long-term growth of the direct online channel by prioritising relevant content, inventory, product features, and industry innovations. The role also includes identifying and building partnerships inside and outside the airline sector to create exclusive advantages for direct bookers and encourage customers to move away from third-party channels.
Key responsibilities
- Adapt and execute the Digital Direct strategy for Africa by contributing market-specific insight and regional input.
- Partner with the Manager Digital and Marketing, along with the regional team, to build digital direct-only campaigns that promote preferential content, fares, products, and features on QR.com and mobile.
- Oversee daily digital direct operations, ensuring the team follows timelines, established processes, and reporting requirements for regional and head office leadership.
- Shape the positioning and messaging of new and existing products so QR.com stands out on price, quality, and relevance to target markets.
- Manage the product portfolio and coordinate with Revenue Management on advertising channels, exclusive offers, and preferred inventory.
- Work with regional digital marketing teams to ensure planned campaigns are designed to increase sales through QR.com.
- Track trends and emerging opportunities that can strengthen the direct online experience and build QR.com’s reputation as a leading regional travel proposition.
- Study customer demand and behaviour to improve campaign effectiveness, support conversion, increase sales, and strengthen profitability for the direct channel.
- Source and implement leisure and corporate customer groups through new partnerships to grow revenue through digital channels.
- Stay current on travel industry products and technologies, and recommend new features, enhancements, mobile app improvements, content, and product ideas that create a more distinctive customer experience and additional direct revenue.
- Share best practices for Digital Direct processes with stakeholders in the assigned region.
- Work closely with internal Digital Direct, Commercial Marketing, and Revenue Management teams to build cross-functional working groups and strengthen unique selling points across channels.
- Coordinate with Loyalty and CRM teams to increase Frequent Flyer Programme penetration and improve the experience of loyal customers through digital direct channels.
- Build long-term external partnerships that help generate revenue through QR.com.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Marketing or a related discipline.
- At least 6 years of experience in direct online marketing and ecommerce marketing is needed.
- Prior management experience in a marketing role is essential.
- Applicants should have a proven record of creating and implementing digital strategies that improve website activity and return on investment.
- The role calls for strong analytical ability and the skill to turn data into practical digital actions.
- The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment focused on digital growth and transformation.
