Job description
Role overview
As a Dispenser in one of Boots’ stores, you will play an important part in the pharmacy team, supporting the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues to deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently. This position is based in-store in the UK, and remote applicants will not be considered.
You will spend much of your time in the healthcare area of the store, building positive relationships with patients, understanding their needs, and offering practical support. The role includes greeting customers, preparing prescriptions, ensuring medicines are supplied safely, and giving health and wellness guidance so patients can make informed choices.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions while following safe-supply processes such as ordering medicines, labelling, endorsing, and handing over prescriptions.
- Work alongside pharmacy and healthcare colleagues to support the delivery and day-to-day management of pharmacy services.
- Offer advice and care to patients about medicines, escalating questions to the pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to make sure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
- Stay current with in-store innovations and follow operational processes accurately.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and use their medicines more effectively to support adherence and reduce waste.
- Use new in-store technologies and systems that improve dispensing, strengthen patient safety, and create more time for patient-facing support.
Candidate requirements
- You should have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2 or an equivalent qualification, or be working toward it and have finished the first year of an MPharm degree.
- You must already have valid UK right to work.
- This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
- Experience in a community pharmacy setting would be an advantage.
Benefits
- Discretionary Christmas gift payment.
- Staff discount at a generous rate.
- Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption leave pay, plus a gift card for colleagues expecting or adopting a child.
- Flexible benefits scheme.
- Access to free 24/7 counselling and support through TELUS Health, the employee assistance programme.
Pay
The role pays £13.92 per hour, rising up to £16.64 per hour in selected London locations.
