Role Summary
Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices is hiring a Biosurgery Specialist for Nagpur/Raipur. This position is focused on promoting and selling the Biosurgery hemostatic portfolio within an assigned territory. The role is centered on positioning these products as the preferred adjunctive hemostat choice by demonstrating the value of bleeding management, quality, and clinical benefit.
The position also includes strengthening relationships with existing KOLs, bringing new KOLs into the network, and helping expand market adoption, access, and preference for the Biosurgery portfolio. This is an individual contributor role that requires closing sales, improving customer satisfaction, and building long-term trust with customers.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for territory sales, account development, customer education, product advocacy, and ethical business conduct.
- Sell franchise products across the assigned territory and work toward achieving or surpassing sales targets.
- Prepare weekly and monthly action plans for each account in coordination with the manager to support sales goals.
- Review sales reports to identify opportunities, recurring challenges, and possible corrective actions.
- Negotiate and close routine deals independently, while seeking support for more complex transactions.
- Represent the company at trade displays and conferences whenever needed.
- Build a strong understanding of customer requirements to uncover new sales opportunities.
- Maintain an active presence in operating rooms and procedure areas of strategic importance.
- Support marketing initiatives in collaboration with larger sales teams.
- Spot tender and contract opportunities and coordinate with colleagues to pursue them.
- With guidance, create an effective territory plan and manage execution.
- Work with retailers so they can act as effective brand advocates for the products.
- Identify surgeons who can benefit from new technologies and solutions, and train them through in-surgery consultation, one-to-one calls, and group training sessions.
- Assess customer education needs and help ensure efficient use of products in patient care settings.
- Build and sustain strong relationships across all levels of customer organizations.
- Support the delivery of in-service education sessions with assistance from managers.
- Share customer training and education resource needs with the marketing team.
- Help prepare account plans that support key account growth and sales expansion.
- Identify key customers and decision-makers and keep their details documented.
- Stay aligned with key account growth strategies.
- Find cross-selling opportunities and work with managers and colleagues to convert them.
- Support customers with inventory-related needs in line with company rules.
- Continuously strengthen knowledge of product features, benefits, correct usage, anatomy, physiology, and relevant procedures.
- Demonstrate product application and explain how the products differ from competitors' offerings.
- Work with Marketing to drive procedure and product awareness in the region.
- Support differentiated territory and regional activities.
- Build awareness of competing products and their strengths, advantages, and benefits.
- Collect information about current practices, behaviors, and customer attitudes.
- Track usage data for trained surgeons and monitor adoption closely.
- Manage accounts receivable, operating expenses, travel, entertainment, transport, and promotion budgets carefully to support productivity.
- Obtain approval before making any budget changes outside the agreed limits.
- Follow sample issue and coordination rules.
- Plan sample and expense usage to stay within budget and maximize effectiveness.
- Identify areas for personal improvement and take action to strengthen job performance.
- Take part in designated training programs and self-learning activities.
- Apply new learning on the job and perform strongly in knowledge and competency assessments.
- Conduct business ethically and maintain behavior consistent with company values and the Credo.
- Build customer relationships based on high ethical standards.
Experience and Education
A graduate degree is required, preferably in Science or Pharmacy. The role asks for 3 to 8 years of healthcare experience. Experience in handling HCP KOLs and collaborating with larger teams is important, and prior sales exposure in adjunctive hemostats is preferred.
Additional Information
The candidate should be fluent in the local language as well as English. The role is based in Nagpur, Maharashtra, with posting locations also including Mumbai, India.
