Role overview
Join a well-established construction services organization in Hamilton, Ontario as an Electrical Estimator. This is a full-time onsite opportunity with relocation support available. The company operates across construction, maintenance, electrical services, estimating, engineering, and related disciplines, serving major industrial and commercial projects.
Compensation and benefits
The salary range for this position is CAD 80,000 to CAD 140,000 per year. What you will do
You will prepare precise and timely electrical estimates for large-scale projects such as distribution centers, automotive manufacturing sites, data centers, and similar heavy industrial work. The role calls for strong knowledge of electrical scope, bid depository rules, and the ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
- Analyze drawings and specifications to build accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Review bid depository requirements to ensure submissions are complete and compliant.
- Use Accubid to support estimating and maintain project cost control data.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to collect the information needed for estimates.
- Identify and review cost differences and variances for management attention.
- Take part in bid and proposal discussions, present estimates, and respond to client and stakeholder questions.
- Stay current on industry standards, practices, and market trends.
- Support the team with related tasks as needed.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, along with 3 to 7 years of electrical estimating experience in heavy industrial construction. Experience with distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, and/or data centers is specifically important.
- Advanced working knowledge of Accubid and other standard estimating tools.
- Strong understanding of electrical trade scope and bid depository regulations.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze detailed electrical drawings and specifications.
- Solid mathematical and analytical abilities.
- Strong organization and the capacity to manage several projects at once.
- Self-driven, detail-focused, and comfortable working independently or within a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
