Job description
Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site Electrical Technician position in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, within the MEP sector. The role centers on keeping electrical systems reliable, safe, and compliant while supporting installation, commissioning, and general MEP work.
What You’ll Do
- Carry out routine electrical upkeep and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Identify faults, trace issues, and resolve electrical problems efficiently.
- Work hands-on with electrical circuits, components, and associated systems.
- Perform inspections, functional checks, and testing activities.
- Ensure work aligns with safety rules and DEWA, SEWA, and ADDC standards.
- Assist with installation and commissioning activities across MEP projects.
- Coordinate with teammates to maintain safe and dependable system operation.
Technical Scope
The position calls for practical knowledge of distribution boards, cable termination, tray and trunking installation, and utility-compliant electrical practices. A strong working understanding of single line diagrams, testing instruments, load balancing, breaker sizing, and fault finding is expected.
Detailed Electrical Work Areas
- Distribution board dressing, including tidy wiring, ferrules, labels, and correct MCB/RCD/RCBO connections.
- SMDB termination with correct phasing, lug crimping, and proper earth and neutral connections.
- Cable glanding and termination with correct gland selection, safe stripping, secure fixing, and proper bending radius.
- MDB termination for high-capacity cables, insulation testing, torque tightening, and compliance with utility requirements.
- Cable tray and trunking installation, fixing, earthing, support planning, and cable segregation.
- Interpretation of single line diagrams and use of testing tools such as a multimeter, tong tester, and megger.
- Awareness of fire-rated supports, fire sealing, containment sizing, and transitions between conduit, tray, and trunking systems.
Work Standards and Compliance
The technician must follow applicable DEWA, SEWA, and ADDC specifications, maintain neat and safe installations, and observe proper cable dressing, labeling, termination, and containment practices. Safety-focused workmanship is essential at all times.
Experience and Qualifications
Candidates should have relevant technical training or certification in Electrical Technology, along with 1 to 3 years of experience as an Electrical Technician. Prior UAE or Gulf experience is considered an advantage.
