Job overview
APTIM Environmental & Infrastructure, LLC is looking for an early-career Environmental Scientist to join the team on a full-time basis. The role supports environmental compliance work across RCRA and state hazardous waste programs, as well as non-RCRA waste and regulated waste and hazardous materials management activities. The ideal candidate should already be familiar with waste profile preparation, quality checks for waste profiles and determinations, and review of Safety Data Sheets. Strong communication is important for working with clients, suppliers, and junior staff. Most of the work will be office-based, though occasional travel to client sites may be needed for compliance reviews, audits, and data collection.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and carry out multiple work assignments while keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
- Contribute both independently and as part of a project team, adapting smoothly when priorities or conditions change.
- Work with client contacts at both corporate and facility levels.
- Communicate with regulatory authorities as needed.
- Manage time effectively to deliver accurate work before deadlines.
- Apply technical knowledge across routine and unusual situations.
- Follow established procedures carefully while also recognizing new scenarios and helping shape processes for new work.
Basic qualifications
A bachelor's degree in environmental science, a core science field such as geology, chemistry, physics, or biology, engineering, or a related discipline is required. The role is suitable for someone with 0 to 2 years of relevant experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with solid organizational ability. Candidates must be comfortable using computers and should be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, SharePoint Online, and other software tools as needed. Fieldwork and travel may be required.
Preferred experience
Prior exposure to environmental compliance or training in federal and state environmental regulations will be helpful. Experience working with RCRA and state hazardous waste, non-RCRA waste, and other regulated waste compliance requirements is also preferred, including national-level experience.
Physical requirements
The job involves the following physical demands: standing about 50% of the time, walking about 20%, and sitting about 30%. Lifting and carrying may be required up to 35 lb. Pushing and pulling are not present. Climbing is not present. Balancing is not present. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling are not present. Reaching, handling, and fingering are performed constantly.

Compensation
The stated pay range for this role is $27.88 to $29.81 per hour. Final compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education, key skills, geographic location, client requirements, market conditions, and internal pay equity.
