Job description
Overview
We are looking for a meticulous Estimator to prepare precise and competitive project costing for construction work. In this role, you will build estimates, perform quantity takeoffs, and assemble budgets by reviewing drawings, specifications, and other project documents to define scope and pricing accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and project budgets for construction assignments.
- Study plans, specifications, and related documents to understand project scope and pricing requirements.
- Work with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain pricing and produce accurate bids.
- Evaluate labor, material, and equipment expenses to shape competitive proposals.
- Assist with bid preparation and support the transition of awarded work to the operations team.
- Keep estimate records, assumptions, and project documentation well organized and easy to reference.
Required Background
- At least 3 to 7+ years of experience in construction estimating or a closely related discipline.
- Prior exposure to civil, commercial, or infrastructure estimating is preferred.
- Solid knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and cost breakdowns.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and technical project documentation.
- Comfort using estimating software or construction tools; experience with AGTEK, ProEstimate, HCSS, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Strong focus on accuracy, organization, and practical problem-solving.
- Good communication skills and the ability to coordinate across teams.
Additional Qualifications
- Background in commercial construction and preconstruction work is an advantage.
- Understanding of construction management principles is helpful.
Work Environment
This position is based in a fast-paced construction setting where you will interact regularly with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors. The job requires frequent use of estimating software and related tools, along with strong teamwork and clear communication across functions.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual pay range for this role is $110,000 to $150,000. The position includes full-time benefits, paid time off, and holiday benefits.

This is a permanent, full-time role located in Columbia, TN. The workplace is fully onsite.
