Job description
Role Overview
Duratec is seeking an Estimator to support its ACT division in producing precise, timely, and well-structured tender estimates and cost plans. The role focuses on building, façade, defence, and remediation work, with responsibilities that include delivering tenders valued up to $20 million.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop accurate cost estimates and prepare tender submissions.
- Oversee the full tender cycle, including pricing strategy, supplier engagement, and risk assessment.
- Work closely with internal departments and outside stakeholders to progress bids.
- Spot project risks and propose value engineering opportunities.
- Maintain compliance, documentation, and governance requirements throughout the process.
- Assist the broader team with tender-related delivery and coordination tasks.
- Build and sustain productive relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring prior estimating experience across Defence, construction, and/or building remediation projects. Strong commercial awareness, confidence in stakeholder interactions, and the ability to work independently with a high level of professionalism are important.
You should also be highly detail-oriented, comfortable juggling multiple priorities within tight deadlines, and capable of presenting estimates to senior leaders for submission approval. The role calls for someone who can proactively seek clarification from clients through RFIs to ensure tender documentation is complete.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Experience estimating in Defence, construction, or building remediation is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and self-driven working skills are needed.
- Solid financial and commercial judgement is essential.
- Ability to manage deadlines while handling several tasks at once.
- Capacity to present estimates to senior management for approval.
- Experience obtaining additional information from clients through RFIs.
- Qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or an equivalent field are preferred.
- Experience using Pronamics Expert Estimation software is desirable.
