Job description
Company Overview
Merlis Hotels Coimbatore is a hospitality property focused on providing pleasant stays, responsive service, and consistently maintained guest spaces. The business places strong importance on cleanliness, guest safety, and reliable service across all areas of the hotel. Team members are expected to take responsibility for their work and help build a positive, service-driven culture. The organization also supports professional development and looks for people who maintain high standards in hospitality and guest care.
Role Summary
This full-time, on-site position in Coimbatore is responsible for leading the hotel’s housekeeping function end to end. The Executive Housekeeper manages guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and laundry operations to ensure presentation and cleanliness remain at a high level. The role includes creating daily work plans, allocating tasks, checking rooms and common areas, and making sure cleaning procedures and safety practices are followed correctly.
Key Duties
The role also involves supervising, guiding, and training the housekeeping team, tracking linen and supply consumption, and coordinating closely with the front office and maintenance teams so hotel operations run smoothly. In addition, the Executive Housekeeper addresses guest housekeeping-related requests and feedback, supports expense control and budgeting efforts, and looks for ways to improve service in line with the hotel’s quality expectations.
Qualifications and Expectations
Candidates should bring strong capability in housekeeping and laundry operations, including room cleaning standards, linen handling, and efficient laundry workflows. Good communication and customer service skills are important for interacting with guests, colleagues, and cross-functional teams. The position also requires solid planning and organizational ability for scheduling, assigning work, maintaining inventory, and keeping housekeeping records accurate. Experience in coaching and developing staff is essential, along with prior supervisory or managerial exposure in a hotel or similar hospitality setting. Familiarity with cleaning agents, equipment, and hygiene, health, and safety requirements is also needed. The schedule may include flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays depending on hotel needs. A diploma or degree in Hospitality Management or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent hands-on leadership experience in housekeeping can also be considered.
Work Schedule and Conditions
This is an on-site hotel operations role, so the selected candidate should be prepared to work according to the property’s service schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
