Job Overview

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking a passionate Facilities Supervisor to join their team at Chepstow Community Hospital. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient environment that supports patient care. The position is a fixed-term contract until July 11, 2027, to meet service needs. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who can work independently and undertake delegated tasks from the Operational Services Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work schedules and resource allocation for team members.
  • Coordinate team activities to achieve departmental goals.
  • Conduct quality audits to ensure standards are met.
  • Assist in staff recruitment, including induction, training, and performance management.
  • Handle initial stages of employee relations, such as disciplinary, sickness, and grievance procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety guidelines and risk assessments.
  • Manage cleaning, catering, and portering services.
  • Oversee compliance with COSHH regulations and HACCP policies.
  • Implement and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Issue work instructions to staff and prioritize tasks for the team.
  • Promote Facilities Services and ensure high standards of work.
  • Act in a polite and respectful manner, maintaining security and confidentiality.
  • Lone working may be required for this role.

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 supervisory qualification or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience.
  • Food Hygiene & Safety Level 2 certification.
  • Basic Health & Safety Certificate.
  • Proficiency in IT.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • A flexible approach to working hours and duties.
  • Commitment to personal development and continuous learning.
  • Ability to motivate oneself, staff, and teams.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and electronic).
  • Ability to engage positively, sensitively, and diplomatically with staff and customers.
  • Willingness to travel between sites as required.
  • Experience in the cleaning and catering industry.
  • Experience in training staff in routine tasks.
  • Ability to meet unplanned work demands.
  • Ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Experience in assessing and undertaking risk assessments (desirable).
  • Previous experience supervising staff (desirable).
  • Experience undertaking audits (desirable).
  • Knowledge of medical gases (desirable).
  • Knowledge of waste disposal (desirable).
  • Previous experience within a healthcare environment (desirable).
