Job description
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and hands-on Facilities Supervisor to manage the everyday running of the care centre’s physical environment. The position plays an important part in keeping the building safe, compliant, and well maintained for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the daily operation of the site’s core building systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety equipment.
- Supervise and coordinate the maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds teams.
- Make sure all activities align with health and safety rules and required statutory obligations.
- Plan and roll out preventive maintenance programmes for equipment and building systems.
- Handle relationships with outside contractors and suppliers for repairs, inspections, and waste management services.
- Arrange inspections and act quickly to address defects, faults, or compliance issues.
- Keep detailed maintenance logs, records, and regulatory documentation up to date.
- Contribute to emergency planning and take part in drills and readiness exercises.
- Support upgrade work, refurbishment activity, and wider facility improvement projects.
- Help maintain a clean, secure, and respectful living setting for residents.
About You
The ideal candidate will bring practical facilities or maintenance experience, ideally gained in a healthcare environment, along with confidence in supervising teams and working with contractors. You should be organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing hands-on work with administration and compliance tasks. A solid understanding of building systems and health and safety standards is important, and familiarity with HIQA requirements would be an advantage.
What We Offer
- A competitive salary package.
- A Monday-to-Friday schedule from 9:00am to 5:00pm to support work-life balance.
- Access to a pension scheme.
- Discounted meals and food available on site.
- A supportive, collaborative workplace culture.
- Training and professional development opportunities.
