Job description
Role overview
Curtin University is seeking a Fieldwork Officer for a full-time fixed-term appointment at the Bentley Campus through 15 January 2027. The role supports the administration and coordination of the Faculty’s fieldwork courses and works closely with academic coordinators, students, and industry partners to keep placements running smoothly.
The position is based in Perth, Western Australia, and sits within a tertiary environment where experience with SONIA or a comparable placement or database system will be an advantage. The salary range for the role is $83,283 to $91,103 per annum (G05), plus 17% superannuation.
Key responsibilities
You will help manage the operational side of fieldwork placements, including communication, reporting, scheduling, and day-to-day issue resolution. The role also includes support for workshops, training sessions, and guidance on placement-related policies and travel requirements.
Selection criteria
To be successful, you should bring a diploma level qualification with substantial relevant experience, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience. Strong interpersonal, written, and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently, use sound judgment, and collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
Experience in higher education, a student-focused environment, SONIA, or the Student One system would be useful, though not mandatory.
Role requirements
This is a fixed-term role, so applicants must hold current work rights in Australia that cover the full duration of the contract. Successful candidates will also need to complete a National Police Clearance and satisfy background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s standards.
Benefits and workplace features
Curtin offers generous leave, salary packaging options, and a range of wellbeing and discount benefits. The Bentley campus also provides on-site amenities such as a gym, medical centre, childcare facilities, bus access, accessible parking, an art gallery, and a variety of food options including a supermarket.

How to apply
Applicants should submit an up-to-date resume and a cover letter of no more than two pages that explains their interest in the role and demonstrates how their experience meets the selection criteria. Applications close at 9:00pm (AWST) on Wednesday, 01 July 2026. Applications submitted late, or sent by email, will not be accepted.
