Job description

Company Overview

The School of Applied Logistics and Transport (SALT) delivers practical training and consultancy in logistics and transport management across Southern Africa and other regions. Its focus is on building real-world capability so client teams can perform more effectively in their workplace settings. The organization values integrity, openness, trust, proactive action, practicality, teamwork, and synergy, and these principles guide how it works with staff, learners, and partners.

Role Summary

This full-time, on-site position in Zimbabwe is responsible for leading security operations across SALT. The role exists to create and maintain a safe environment for learners, employees, visitors, and organizational property. The incumbent will design and roll out security procedures, coordinate security staff, handle risk reviews and incident response, and ensure access control and surveillance systems are properly monitored. The position also includes conducting inspections, working with police and other security stakeholders when needed, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, managing security-related budgets and supplier agreements, and driving ongoing improvements in safety and security practices.

Key Duties

  • Set up and maintain security policies, procedures, and operating standards.
  • Coordinate daily security operations to protect people and assets.
  • Lead, schedule, supervise, and develop security personnel.
  • Carry out risk assessments and coordinate responses to incidents and emergencies.
  • Oversee access control, CCTV, alarms, and monitoring systems.
  • Perform regular site inspections and identify security gaps.
  • Liaise with law enforcement and external security providers as required.
  • Prepare security reports and support compliance with relevant rules and internal policies.
  • Manage security budgets and vendor or contractor arrangements.
  • Train teams, encourage security awareness, and support business continuity and emergency readiness initiatives.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant should bring prior experience in security management, safety operations, or risk management within a corporate, campus, or institutional environment. The role calls for strong capability in policy development, incident handling, emergency planning, team leadership, and the use of security technology and reporting tools. The person should also have solid communication, conflict resolution, stakeholder coordination, organization, and planning skills. A high standard of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism is essential. Familiarity with security, safety, and occupational health requirements in Zimbabwe and the wider Southern African region is preferred.

Qualifications and Additional Requirements

A relevant tertiary qualification in security management, criminal justice, risk management, or a related discipline is expected, and professional security or safety certifications will be an advantage. The role requires the ability to work full time on site in Zimbabwe and to respond flexibly to operational needs, including evenings or weekends when necessary.

Core Values

The successful candidate should be comfortable working in a culture shaped by integrity, openness, trust, proactivity, practicality, teamwork, and synergy.
